KAAST R-Grind cylindrical grinders are constructed on a massive, heavily-ribbed Meehanite cast iron bed — the same material standard on premium precision grinding equipment. The bed design ensures that even heavy workpieces produce optimal surface roughness and dimensional accuracy. All models feature a hydrostatic spindle bearing, where a film of oil between the bearing and spindle eliminates metal-to-metal contact. This dramatically reducing vibration and delivering exceptional surface finish with extended spindle life.
The belt-driven headstock features an 8-way graded speed range, with adjustable speed to maintain continuous optimal grinding conditions. Table feed is infinitely variable via hydraulic drive, with a soft-stop at each traverse limit — protecting the workpiece and the machine. Rapid traverse of the spindle is standard, keeping cycle times short. Automatic lubrication of the slide and headstock is included on all models.

The most versatile range. Handles shafts, cylinders, and rolls up to 156" between centers at up to 1,870 lbs workpiece weight.
R-Grind 30200-40300 (heavy duty) — 23"x78" to 31"×157"
Built for large industrial components — axles, large hydraulic cylinders, heavy rolls. Workpiece capacity up to 3,300 lbs. Hydrostatic tailstock isolates vibration even at these weights.
Optional configuration on all models: internal grinding unit, coolant system with paper filter and magnetic separator.
